Contact REHS prior to producing waste. Collect in REHS supplied/approved container, and segregate according to isotope half-life:
Group I: radionuclides with half-lives ≤15 days (ex. 32P, 131I);
Group II: radionuclides with half-lives >15 days and ≤120 days (ex. 33P, 35S, 51Cr, 125I);
Group III: radionuclides with half-lives >120 days 3H and 14C only;
Group IV: radionuclides with half-lives >120 days other than 3H and 14C.
Complete yellow disposal card AND label as 'Hazardous Waste', properly segregate incompatables. |
